Description
The role of a methane gas breather is to capture any gas leaks from the piping, concentrating the leakage flow to a vertical pipe leading to the ground surface, producing dilution in the atmosphere and dissipation that will prevent the explosion threshold from being reached.
This product is also known as methane gas breather, methane gas exhaust pipe, methane gas vent pipe, methane gas vent pipe for roadway or non-roadway (green spaces), NG breather.
Depth of burial of the pipe served by the vent: about 120 cm. Pipe for evacuation of accidentally lost gas: Ф60,3x2x1000 mm. At the upper end drilled 3 holes (D10, 20 mm apart. The upper end closed with a 60 mm dia. cap, thick. 2 mm, circumferentially welded. Cap-pan to catch accidentally lost gas: 3x200x230 mm;
Natural gas vents are manufactured in three different designs: roadway vents, green space vents and wall vents.
Construction elements of gas breathers:
- Calotte, concave in shape, made of OL S 235 sheet steel of a minimum thickness of 2 mm, of dimensions 200 mm x 340 mm and 200 mm x 230 mm respectively
- Rod, made of steel pipe, diameter 60,3 mm, wall thickness 2 mm, welded in the middle of the calotte on the convex side;
- The stopper, made of OL S 235 sheet steel, minimum thickness 2 mm, welded. On the concave side of the calotte, positioned underneath the rod. The stopper is intended to protect the pipe when cleaning the rod. It is fitted in such a way that it does not block the gas outlet to the surface,The length of the rod varies depending on the type of breather, as follows:
- For roadway vents, L=800 mm;
- For green space vents, L =min. 1000 mm;
A sheet metal cover is welded to the top end of the green space breather rod. Minimum thickness of 2 mm, at a distance of 30 mm from the cover. 2-4 holes of Ф 10 mm are drilled and the distance between the holes is 10 mm. In the case of roadway ventilators, the upper end of the rod enters a cast-iron box (embedded in the roadway covering). The cast-iron box is protected by a cast-iron cover.
The strength class for road pavement breathers is C150 (9kN/m).
Markings: date of manufacture (month and year), product characteristics (pipe diameter, stem length, cap thickness), product code.
Areas of use: gas leak detection in natural gas supply systems.
Service life: 15 years from commissioning under normal operating conditions.
